Foreign Fear Friday: DAVID CRONENBERG!

Dec. 19 2:09 PM by Blood Bather

From England we travel to the land of moose and Mounties for more of a mainstream filmic celebration than we're used to. This month, for Foreign Fear Friday we proudly cast the spotlight on Canada's own; the King of Venereal Horror, the Baron of Blood, the one, the only, David Cronenberg. Born March 15, 1943 in Toronto, Ontario - Cronenberg's cerebral, at times scientific approach to filmmaking stems from his Degree in Literature from the University of Toronto (after opting out of the science department), often citing William S. Burroughs and Vladimir Nabokov as prominent influences. It comes as no shock then, that Cronenberg would eventually become the largest proponent of what is deemed "bodily horror," a subgenre the writer/director has spent a lifetime excavating.

NEWS: First Poster for Rob Zombie's H2!

Dec. 19 11:27 AM by Blood Bather

Whether or not you enjoyed Rob Zombie's 2007 re-imagining of horror classic Halloween, you can't really pin a lack of enthusiasm the man holds in the genre (or doesn't hold). For crying out loud, the dude named his band after a ancient horror flick (White Zombie). He's well versed in the genre, and wants to be is what I'm getting at - and that right there is a leg up when it comes to the creative side of it all. So, given how successful his 2007 rehash turned out to be (both commercially and critically), it should come as no big surprise that Zombie is poised to reprise his duties for H2, the official sequel to the flick he directed in '07. And now, a fresh poster has hit the press. Check it out!

The 15 Best Horror Movies of 2009

Dec. 17 11:32 AM by Blood Bather

Halloween is long gone, but that doesn't mean there aren't a ton of great horror films on the horizon. From Friday the 13th to George A. Romero's next Dead movie, here's a sneak peak at the 15 most promising horror movies of 2009.

#15: The Unborn
In what is probably no match for It's Alive or the vat of bile known as The Suckling, The Unborn is David S. Goyer's (Blade: Trinity, The Invisible) latest foray into the world of the macabre. When a young pregnant woman (Odette Yustman) starts to slowly become possessed by the entity inside of her, all kinds of eerie revelations and horrific truths are unearthed. Despite the flick being rated PG-13, Goyer is smart enough to cast screen greats like Gary Oldman and Jane Alexander alongside fresher talent like drop dead lookers Megan Goode and Carla Gugino. The Unborn is delivered January 9, 2009.

7 Vampires that Could Demolish Edward from Twilight

Dec. 15 2:43 PM by Gora_Death

With Twilight at the movies, I've already made up my mind that when it comes to vampires, Edward Cullen is of a weaker variety. Compiled below is a list of vampires that I believe could kill Edward without even trying very hard.

#7: Peter from Vampire's Kiss
Peter isn't completely a vampire, but he thinks he is, which is what matters. The love-sick character played by Nicolas Cage could take time out of obsessing over his love and his sins just long enough to knock Edward on his rear. Peter knows obsession and he could run circles around what Mr. Twilight thinks is undying love.

Murder Movie Monday: AMERICAN PSYCHO!

Dec. 15 2:10 PM by Blood Bather

This month for Murder Movie Monday, we'd like to throw a tip of the cap to our favorite white collar maniac, Patrick Bateman ( a star making turn from Christian Bale). The vastly underrated American Psycho is equal parts pitch black humor and grisly slasher horror; the corporate '80s backdrop the perfect setting to mirror themes of greed and designer-narcissism the film engenders. For our money though, it's either Bateman squabbling over personal business cards, singing along to such pop music icons as Genesis and Whitney Houston, or flexing and posing in a mirror while pounding a pair of prostitutes that gives us the most joy. Oh, that and dropping a running chainsaw down a stairwell to gorily fell one of the aforementioned working girls. Get a free glimpse of the entire film below!

VIDEO: Trailer for PARIS BY NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD!

Dec. 12 9:56 AM by Blood Bather

With very little detail disseminated thus far, whether or not French indie horror flick Paris by Night of the Living Dead is an actual film set for release (as opposed to a viral faux-trailer) is still pretty roiled. Not only is the film absent from imdb.com, but alleged director Gregory Morin's credits on the holy grail of movie sites do not include such a title. According to upcominghorrormovies.com, the flick will indeed enjoy a 2009 release, with Karina Testa, David Saracino and Dominique Bettenfeld as featured players. Either way, one thing is for certain: this trailer kicks fuckin' back! Anytime you have an Uzi jammed into a zombie eye-socket, then the trigger squeezed, you know you're in for some fun. Get a grip on the trailer below, we'll keep you abreast of any further detail.
