PREVIEW: Strippers, Louisiana swamp zombies, and carnival freaks in Grindhouse-style House of the Dead Overkill (Wii)!
Aug. 19
Get a load of this disgusting freak you'll be able to rip to shreds in Overkill. Quato?
Joining the Nintendo Wii's library of zombie lightgun games, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles and House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return, next year is the brand-new Wii-exclusive House of the Dead: Overkill. While the following highly-stylized Grindhouse debut trailer for the game does obscure what the game looks like in action to some degree, it still looks pretty goddamn cool. Based on this video, the game is definitely going for a Planet Terror feel. With Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop (another game where you blow apart zombies) also headed to the Wii (and Fatal Frame IV) the Wii is shaping up to be the video game console for horror fans to own.
Here what we know about the game so far:
- The game takes place in "Bayou City," so expect to face a unique brand of Louisiana swamp zombies.
- Agent G and Agent Washington star in Overkill, and since the game supports co-op, you and a friend will be able to play and slay as the two agents.
- Zombie dismemberment mechanics are included in the game, allowing you to reduce zombie adversaries into mounds of meat.
- Just about every aspect of the game is saturated in a b-horror movie feel.
- In addition to having access to a wide variety of firearms, you'll also be able to smash zombies that get too close by pistol whipping their "jaws off or [caving] some heads in with the stock of your pump-action..."
- " A Slow-Mofo Time" feature allows the player to slow down the carnage so you can really enjoy exploding the heads of your enemies.
Look at the chunks fly off that nasty zombie!
What smells more horrible than the rotting flesh of zombies? Zombies that were once carnys!
Even the box art resembles the artwork for Robert Rodriguez' 2007 horror flick Planet Terror.

I hope the game has the same grindhouse-esque as the trailer. Looks awesome!
SWEET! I can't wait for this freaking game. I hope the voice acting is just as awful as it was in previous games.
I hope so too monkeyfish. A new House of the Dead game with Grindhouse-type visuals and presentation sounds like a great horror game.
I like it.
I like the little blurb on the box art saying "this is like soemthing out of a videogame!"
Awesome.

I'm with Gixman. Where's HOTD4 at? I came out in the arcades years ago! And yeah I remember it being scheduled for 360.
