NEWS: First Details on Saw Video Game

Jan. 31 4:33 PM by Eater of Entrails

A video game based on Lion Gate's extremely popular Saw horror film series is currently slated for release in October 2009. The game, which was announced at Brash Entertainment's press event Tuesday night, will answer questions that have risen from the original Saw movie to Saw IV.

During the brief teaser video shown at the event, a fully-rendered Billy (Jigsaw's menacing puppet and the Saw franchise's mascot) addressed gaming press directly, stating that they have "wasted their lives writing about video games." While the type of gameplay Saw will feature is unknown at this time, the words spoken by the nefarious doll could mean that players will be scrambling to escape from the film series' trademark elaborate torture devices and traps in the game.

In addition to the video which served as a small taste of the game based on one of the most notoriously gruesome film series ever, a still image was shown of a woman holding her hands above her head in a glass box grasping a Wii Remote.

Brash Entertainment notes that the game's development team is working closely with Twisted Pictures and James Wan who directed the original Saw film. The game is also said to use the Unreal engine.

Final Word: Even though it hasn't been officially announced, you can bet your ass the Saw Video Game is coming to the Nintendo Wii (likely in addition to other consoles), expanding the console's horror library. And for anyone who still believes that the Wii is for babies and pregnant women, remember that Manhunt 2 came out on the Wii. My guess is players will use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk in a Zack & Wiki fashion, attempting to dismantle and break free from various torture devices. You can also be certain that Saw's tricycle-riding puppet will also play a key role in the video game scheduled for the Fall of next year. Until then Saw fans have Saw V to look forward to which hits theaters October 24 of this year. OMGHorror will keep you updated as new info surfaces on Saw.

Grisly images from Saw - Saw IV, and likely a taste of what's to come when the game arrives.

wut.

not that it would make it passed the ESRB anyway

if a Columbine video game can be made public I think this one could very well be made public as well...I am rather interested in seeing this and getting a chance to play it.
