On his MySpace blog, rock musician and horror director Rob Zombie has revealed the title of his next live-action film, Tyrannosaurus Rex. Although Zombie notes that it is still too early to talk about the plot details of his upcoming movie, he does explain that Tyrannosaurus Rex will have "nothing to do with dinosaurs."
There has been some speculation that T-Rex won't be a "horror" film, much like The Devil's Rejects didn't entirely fall under this genre while still weaving many horror elements into the movie. Even so, it's extremely hard to imagine Rob Zombie abandoning the horror genre and his fans--Tyrannosaurus Rex will likely be something that horror buffs will devour, especially considering that his entire film resume has incorporated horror in some way.
In a previous blog entry, Zombie posted the question to his fans "how many of you would like to see a full length movie of Werewolf Women of the SS?" (which was the name of the faux trailer he created for the 2007's Grindhouse) For a while, this was thought to be the next movie he was directing, and even though it has not been officially announced, we still haven't given up hope that a Nazi-exploitation horror movie by Rob Zombie may be in the cards somewhere down the line.
Known for his relatively well-received remake of Halloween, The Devil's Rejects, and his directorial debut House of 1000 Corpses, Rob Zombie is also currently producing the animated film adaptation of his comic book series The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, which is about a has-been Mexican wrestler, his sister Suzi-X (voiced by Zombie's wife Sheri Moon Zombie) and the evil Dr. Satan.
Final Word: While virtually nothing is known about Zombie's Tyrannosaurus Rex, the title is worth examining to see if it hints at the film's premise in any way. Perhaps T-Rex is a tale about a character who, like the carnivorous dinosaur they are named after, chews through other humans, bones and all. No? Well... in any case, OMGHorror will keep you filled in with all the details on Rob Zombie's latest as the new info surfaces.

I think if handled with care, this could be pretty legitimate. As long as Zombie goes for a primitive look and doesn't spend too much time with Jurassic Park type precision, get some real make-up gurus like Rick Baker or Tom Savini, he could make this thing look truly savage. I'm excited!
