VIDEO: Scary Mary - The Version of Mary Poppins You've Never Seen!
Feb. 13It's funny how with a little bit of editing knowhow and some music you can twist one of the happiest films ever made into something truly menacing. In this clip, Chris Rule has masterfully recut footage of Disney's Mary Poppins to create a sinister spin on the 1964 musical. The creepiest part from the trailer is when the Mary's head starts spinning uncontrollably.
The Scary Mary trailer is reminiscent of another video floating around the web where clips of Stanley Kubrick's The Shining were used to make a faux trailer for a romantic comedy version of the movie. You can watch it here.

Mary was pretty scary but she is no Willy Wonka. Now that is a demented children's movie!
Poppins always seemed to have those eerie undertones, kind of like the latter scenes of the Wizard of Oz, with the witch and the monkies and what not. Wonka is creepy, no doubt, there's some real odd ball stuff going on there, but I kind of liked the dark humor Wilder brought to the role.
