The official poster has been released for the fifth installment in the Saw franchise, Saw V. The new film continues the franchise's tradition of featuring grisly yet vaguely artistic imagery on its advertisements for the films in the longstanding horror franchise--though, somehow the Saw V poster below doesn't gross us out as much as Saw III's which showed three bloodied teeth that were wrenched out of someone's head. This time around first time director David Hackl will be taking on the movie, Hackl having previously worked as Production Designer on Saw II, Saw III, and Saw IV.
Saw V hits theaters the day before Halloween (October 24, 2008).

please let this be better than saw iv, please let this be better than saw iv :[
Liking it! Just a simple profile shot of a hairy burly dude with a gnarly TCM type mask (at least in partial color). Quite tame compared to Saw posters of yore, but this one has spare quality that makes it pretty F*ckin' eerie.

I am also hoping that number 5 will be better than the previous Saw movie (could it get much worse?). Saw IV's torture contraptions were so uninspired compared to I-III's... though I did enjoy the ultra realistic autopsy scene of Jigsaw at the very beginning of the movie.
badass poster. I don't think any of the Saw movies have been worthwhile since the first one but I always go see them.
5 pictures in 4 years? Saw is quickly becoming the new Friday the 13th series, churning out a new entry every ten months or so. Naturally, the material is going to take a hit - but that argument only holds if you consider the original to be a watershed. We'll so how it goes!
So would this mean they're giving up the silly puppet mask thing? Because as guys in masks go, this is like 5000% creepier.
I think they've put out a Saw every Halloween for the past four years, haven't they? I would consider the original to be a watershed, if only due to its obvious influence on mainstream horror releases (for better or for worse).
I love all of the Saw films...with me, Saw can not go wrong. Jigsaw is a horror film idol in my eyes! I love these movies.
Um... "Saw V hits theaters the day before Halloween (October 24, 2008)."?
Halloween is October 31 there, dude. :D
