With his newest film less than a month away from release (August 15), French filmmaker Alexandre Aja has recently put out a provoking, hyper-gory still that illustrates what type of violent depiction will be featured in Mirrors, a remake of the 2003 South Korean film Into the Mirror. You need look no further than my pseudonym to understand the level of personal appreciation of this image. Damn, this flat out rocks - Can't wait to see Aja's vision in full!
Final Word: Aja is quickly becoming one of the preeminent go-to horror directors these days, showing great technical aplomb with his last two features Haute Tension and The Hills Have Eyes. It's been rumored that the initial teaser trailer for Mirrors was laughably bad, and called for a complete revamping of the material. Aja's retort is nothing short of, excuse the painful pun, jaw-dropping. His dark use of color, the exorbitant grue, densely layered mise-en-scene - and of course the legend that is Jack Bauer (Sutherland) all of it lend potential to be one of the best horror films to come out in awhile (albeit a remake). Looks solid Aja, keep it up sir!

Wow, that is a total 180 from the trailer they put out. Looks interesting...Definitely have to see it now.
Good lord. Aja's movies are so barbarous in their gore and ruthless violence that I'm always tense when I'm watching one of his films.
I just saw a really badass poster in the subway station for Mirrors, though it was not as cool as this new image.
I have liked all of ajas movies ive seen, but at the same time really hate american remakes of asian horror so i am very torn about this one. The image above has moved this from the definently not to wait for the reviews and maybe see it, but the trailer seems so stereotypical of americanized asian horror.
Oooo! I guess this movie is gonna have that Aja "touch" after all!
Killatron, I feel the same way as you. Love Aja but hate remakes (specifically Asian remakes). But then again, Into the Mirrors wasn't the best movie ever so maybe they can make it better.
Seriously, when has this guy ever gone wrong.
Is it just me, or does it look like she's still alive? Even if the movie sucks I'll still see it for the gore.
