Murder Movie Mondays: Cigarette Burns

May. 5 4:06 PM by Eater_of_Entrails

John Carpenter's one hour long Cigarette Burns aired during the first season of Showtime's Masters of Horror series where numerous acclaimed horror filmmakers make their own short-length films. In Cigarette Burns, which is easily the finest entry in the series, a man goes in search of an infamous but hard to track down horror film that allegedly makes the viewer go insane after watching it. It's packs some really gnarly gore scenes that I won't spoil for you and it's arguably the best thing Carpenter has done since The Thing. Enjoy!

Apr. 22 12:00 PM by Eater_of_Entrails

The second trailer for Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy II: The Golden Army has been released, giving fans a more thorough look at what's in store for them in this sequel. This new video shows more of Prince Nuada, Hellboy's new long-haired albino sword-wielding nemesis along with a slew of new beasties for Red and his team to battle. Again, the upcoming film isn't a "horror film," but like its predecessor it does incorporate horror elements and imagery into the movie. See the trailer below.

VIDEO: NEW Mother of Tears Trailer

Apr. 11 12:01 PM by Eater_of_Entrails

In America, legendary Italian horror filmmaker Dario Argento, known for countless spectacular horror movies such as Susperia, Opera, Phenomena (my all-time favorite horror film), two episodes of Showtimes Masters of Horror series (Jennifer and Pelts), and others, isn't quite a household name, but to much of the world he is more or less regarded as the second coming of Alfred Hitchcock, who has influenced his body of work a great deal. And if you haven't gotten into Argento's movies, now is as good a time as any, especially considering that his latest horror project, The Mother of Tears is finally coming to the States in select theaters (click the link to check out eSplatter.com's full theater listing to find the nearest place to you it's showing at). A new trailer has also just been released for the US release of Mother of Tears and you can watch it below.

The film opens in theaters from June 6 to July 11.

Murder Movie Mondays: The Shining

Apr. 7 11:35 AM by Eater_of_Entrails

This month we screen one of the most highly regarded horror motion pictures of all time, Stanley Kubrick's timeless The Shining--if you've never seen the film, watch it in its entirety above! In the movie which is based on a novel by Stephen King, Jack Nicholson delivers one hell of a convincing performance as Jack Torrence, a writer who decides that isolating himself (and his family) at the completely vacant Overlook Hotel is a good idea to get the creative juices flowing. The reality is quite different. You really can't have a discussion about the "all-time scariest movies" without mentioning The Shining. Even to this day, it still makes us here at OMGHorror check our undies for stains. So grab some popcorn (Jolly Time's deliciously artery-clogging Blast O Butter is our favorite), dim the lights, and enjoy our free screening of The Shining!

VIDEO: See Resident Evil 5 in Action!

Mar. 28 4:22 PM by Eater_of_Entrails

You can get an early glimpse at gameplay of the fifth chapter in Capcom's Resident Evil series in this video just released. Unless you speak Japanese, you won't know what the Resident Evil 5 development team is saying during the video, but I'm still getting a stiffy just seeing the game actually being played. The video showcases Resident Evil 5's superb graphics which are a big step above Resident Evil 4's visuals. Look closely and you'll also notice that as Chris (the game's protagonist) can walk around in real time simultaneously as events are being triggered in the environment (such as a dude being dragged off the street and into a room for a major beating).

VIDEO: Lost Boys 2 Trailer

Mar. 14 5:32 PM by Eater_of_Entrails

The first official trailer for Lost Boys: The Tribe, the follow-up to the cult 80's vampire flick has just been released. The sequel stars some of the same actors as the original film including Corey Feldman, Corey Haim, Jamison Newlander, and although Keefer Sutherland (the only actor from the original that has done anything with his career since the original Lost Boys) won't be appearing in this film, his half brother Angus Sutherland is! This time around Joel Schumacher will also not be sitting in the director chair as this movie is being handled by P.J. Pesce (From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter).

Murder Movie Mondays: Bad Taste

Mar. 3 2:34 PM by Eater_of_Entrails

Before he was making respectable Academy Award winning films like the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Peter Jackson was, and still is, widely known by gore whores across the world for his first two vomit-inducing horror films, 1987's Bad Taste and 1992's Dead Alive. In this first episode of OMGHorror's Murder Movie Mondays (which airs the 1st Monday of every month), were showing Jackson's first splatter flick, Bad Taste in its entirety. The movie is about a group of aliens that come to earth to round up humans which are the Big Macs of their intergalactic fast food chain. Sit back, don't eat anything that you might barf up later, and enjoy the film. After it's over, tell us what you thought about the movie by posting a comment below.

VIDEO: How to Chop Someone's Head Off

Feb. 21 3:02 PM by Eater_of_Entrails

Want to create your own homebrew splatter movies but don't know where to start? Well, you can't make horror movies without gore and Backyard FX has posted a new video demonstrating how to pull off a killer looking decapitation effect while only spending $50 on supplies. The video is over 6 minutes long, and there's a load of extra bullshit in it that you don't really need to know, but the instructions are there and they're extremely simple to follow. Who would have thought cutting someone's head off was this easy?

VIDEO: Scary Mary - The Version of Mary Poppins You've Never Seen!

Feb. 13 11:36 AM by Eater_of_Entrails

It's funny how with a little bit of editing knowhow and some music you can twist one of the happiest films ever made into something truly menacing. In this clip, Chris Rule has masterfully recut footage of Disney's Mary Poppins to create a sinister spin on the 1964 musical. The creepiest part from the trailer is when the Mary's head starts spinning uncontrollably.

The Scary Mary trailer is reminiscent of another video floating around the web where clips of Stanley Kubrick's The Shining were used to make a faux trailer for a romantic comedy version of the movie. You can watch it here.
